Weldclass PROMAX leather welding blankets are made from heavy-duty split cowhide leather, sewn with heat-resistant Kevlar thread for resistance to seam failure, and fitted with eyelets (except the 1x2m size). They are recommended for protection against grinding sparks and light-to-medium welding spatter, and provide indirect heat protection, but are not recommended for protection against slag, molten droplets or direct flame.

Cowhide split leather will typically withstand up to 200°C for short-duration exposure and 80°C for continuous exposure. As leather is a natural product, worn or damaged blankets should be replaced, and users should always trial blankets on non-critical surfaces first for critical applications.
